“The Flash” 7×05 Recap: Fear Overtakes Team Flash

Fear took over Team Flash in Tuesday night’s episode of The Flash as Barry and company were shown their deepest fears, leading Barry to realize that this big bad may be one he cannot stop.

In case you missed it, here’s a recap of how things went down in episode 7×05, titled “Fear Me”.

Burning the brain

This week, Team Flash met the dangerous villain Psych, who caused chaos in Central City by tapping into everyone’s biggest fears. The first sign of trouble came when Cecile has a waking nightmare at home and Joe has to snap her out of it. She said even though it was just a dream, it felt real. Well, Barry, Cisco, and Frost all had similar experiences after their encounter with Psych.

The next time the team encounters Psych, they use mental dampeners to stop the villain from getting in their heads but c’mon, we all knew it wouldn’t be that easy. Barry’s biggest fear is losing the people he loves and Frost’s was Caitlin turning her in to the police.

Cisco was the biggest question mark. He later told the team that he saw Kamilla dying but that’s obviously a lie. I can’t help but wonder if his vision is going to be a mystery surrounding his character as the Season 7 storyline officially begins.

Getting some help

Team Flash needed some help and they got it in the form of Cecile. Barry got the idea to use DeVoe’s Thinker Chair for her powers to reach out through the whole city. But hold the phone, was I the only one not aware that the Flash team keeps their former foes gadgets? Just for a rainy day? Interesting, but kind of odd.

Anyways, Barry straps Cecile into the chair and speeds off into the city. Barry fights through the nightmare and Cecile feels Barry’s courage and amplifies it. This causes the city to be free of Psych’s control and he is ultimately defeated.

Other Thoughts

• Elsewhere in the episode, Kristen Kramer from the Governor’s Municipal Logistics Commission stopped by to see Joe. Iris doesn’t trust her and does a full background check, telling her father she was part of the military. When Joe questions Kristen, she tells him she is looking to arrest Frost.
• Speaking of Frost, Caitlin wanted to merge back but Frost is against it. After realizing something was off, Caitlin understands that losing Frost is her greatest fear and the feeling is mutual with her icy “sister”.
