‘Riverdale’ shuts down production amid coronavirus concerns

Production on The CW drama Riverdale has been suspended after a member of the production crew came into contact with someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19, otherwise known as the coronavirus.

TMZ first reported the news and Warner Bros. Television later confirmed it but went on to say that they are working with the health agencies in Vancouver on the matter.

“We have been made aware that a team member from ‘Riverdale’, which is produced in Vancouver, was recently in contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19,” WB said in a statement. “The team member is currently receiving a medical evaluation. We are working closely with the appropriate authorities and health agencies in Vancouver to identify and contact all individuals who may have come into direct contact with our team member. The health and safety of our employees, casts, and crews are always our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution, production on ‘Riverdale’ is currently suspended.”

The news comes amid growing concerns over coronavirus sweeping across other U.S. television shows. Earlier this week, it was reported both The Amazing Race and Survivor had stopped production on their shows and Big Brother casting calls for the upcoming 22nd season are being halted until further notice.
