If you keep up with award show season, you know this was a crazy year for female directors as the Oscars overlooked some worthy women for one of the night’s top prizes namely our girl Greta Gerwig for Best Picture nominee Little Women. 

As the experts at Rave Reviews say, “the journey towards parity is far from over, but it’s made some notable strides and has resulted in some outstanding art.” So ahead of International Women’s Day and as we move into a new decade full of brilliant new movies, we thought we’d take the time to reminisce on a few of our favorites from the last decade directed by some brilliant women.
