‘The Masked Singer’ Recap: The Llama is unmasked as Group A Playoffs begin

The Masked Singer continued on Wednesday night with the Group A playoffs as the five remaining masked celebrities in that group took to the stage to try and earn enough audience votes to advance to the group finals.

By the end of the night, one more celebrity was unmasked. So who advanced to the group’s finals? Let’s dive into this recap and find out!

Llama

The show kicked off with llama taking the stage for his second performance of the season. His clues included that he got to “think on his feet” and his “career was stalling”. Like a comedian? Hmm. His performance of Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual” was a bop and fun to watch.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: Price Is Right host Drew Carey.

Miss Monster

Once again, Miss Monster continues to stump me. Her clues this week included having “a lot of soul” and that automatically had me thinking it is someone older. This was confirmed with her performance of “Fancy” by Bobbie Gentry. She has a soulful tone to her voice and clearly its someone with tons of experience.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: R&B soul singer Chaka Khan.

White Tiger

Up next was the White Tiger and he might be my least favorite behind the llama. In the premiere, it was pretty clear that he’s an athlete and his clue this time that “dancing heals my body after taking a beating” only furthered that theory. Taking a beating in football, maybe? He sang Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch’s “Good Vibrations” and his performance included some very awkward dancing.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Kangaroo

For her second performance, the Kangaroo belted out Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good” and it was very impressive. Her clues so far have included “being a survivor” and that she wants to be a role model for “my little ‘roo’.”

Who is behind the mask? My guess: I’m stuck! I honestly have no idea.

Turtle

The final performance of the night came from the Turtle. He sang a nice rendition of James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go” and you can tell he’s an experienced singer. He has a nice tone and his falsetto is flawless. I originally thought this was New Kids On The Block’s Jordan Knight, but I’m changing my mind after a quick YouTube search.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: Summerland star and singer Jesse McCartney.

The Results

Following all the performances, host Nick Cannon revealed the results from the audience vote. He announced that the llama had been eliminated but before he left, it was time to unmask the celeb. It was revealed to be comedian Drew Carey! I’m now 2/2 in guesses on the season.

Who do you think the remaining masked celebs are? Let me know in the comments below!
