‘The Masked Singer’ adds Jamie Foxx and format changes for Season 3, new spinoff confirmed

The Masked Singer is undergoing some massive changes for its upcoming third season that is going to reshape the competition for the celebrities and the viewers at home.

Fox has confirmed that actor and Beat Shazam Host/EP Jamie Foxx will join judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke as a guest judge on the panel for the upcoming season.

Additionally, the format is getting slightly tweaked for Season 3. The celebrities will be split into three groups of six: Groups A, B, and C. From there, all three groups will be cut to just three singers each. The final nine singers will then perform together as they battle it out for the Golden Mask Trophy.

The network is also moving forward with a spin-off of its breakout hit as they announced a partnership with Ellen Degeneres to produce The Masked Dancer. According to the press release, celebrity contestants will perform unique dances, while covered from head-to-toe in elaborate costumes and face masks, leaving audiences to guess their identities.

“We’re still blown away by The Masked Singer’s massive impact on pop culture, but when Ellen debuted her own inventive segment, “The Masked Dancer”, on her show, we were truly amazed,” said Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment & Specials, FOX Entertainment. “We are thrilled to partner with Ellen on this new format and take The Masked Dancer to a whole new creative level.”
