Disney Casts Halle Bailey to Play Ariel in ‘The Little Mermaid’ Remake
Disney has chosen their lead for their next remake!
It was just announced that grown-ish star Halle Bailey, who is one half of sister duo Chloe x Halle, has been cast to play Ariel in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. This role will mark her film debut.
Director Rob Marshall told Variety, “After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance – plus a glorious singing voice- all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,”
