‘America’s Got Talent’ recap: The best and worst acts from Week 2 of auditions
The auditions for America’s Got Talent continued on Tuesday night and after a week where an audition went viral, the second week was very underwhelming in terms of the level of talent.
In case you missed it, here were the best and worst acts from the second week of auditions:
The Best
The Messoudi Brothers
The three brothers from Australia arrived 45-minutes into the first hour of the show as a balancing act which proved to be a big hit, not only with the judges but with the ladies in the room as well.
The guys took their shirts off, balanced on a chair and even brought out host Terry Crews to take part. It was one of the better acts of the night in a lackluster evening.
Adaline Bates
The 63-year-old singer from Arizona was one of the more unique and surprising acts of the night. She performed a duet to “Unforgettable” and sang both the male and female parts, complete with a split costume.
In all my years of watching AGT, I have never seen anything like that in my life. It was really cool, different, and unique. I will remember that moment for a long time as we go into the next round and beyond.
Ryan Niemiller
The comedian may have a birth defect but he did not let it define him. The stand-up comic called his birth defect “being very handsome” and used jokes to make people laugh with him and not pity him.
One of the jokes in his set relayed how kids react to his hands in horror but he turns the tables on them and does the same. He concluded with the hilarious punchline “And that’s why I’m not allowed at Toys-R-Us anymore.”
Ryan had some good jokes but will need to work on some better material for the next round.
The Worst
Nicholas Wallace
The “scary” magic act saw Nicholas bring judge Gabrielle Union on stage and have her sit in an antique rocking chair blindfolded. The chair was ‘overtaken’ by a spirit living inside a doll, so when Nick touched the doll Gabrielle would feel it and raise her hand.
The act took way too long to go anywhere and was pretty boring. The trick is pretty simple too. I won’t ruin it for you, but if you think about it, it is easy to see how it was done.

- This week’s Golden Buzzer went to 21-year-old singer Joseph Allen courtesy of judge Howie Mandel. After last week’s Golden Buzzer act going viral, this one felt like a let down for me. Fans seem to agree as social media was abuzz with comments asking why Howie chose Joseph for the GB.
- Here’s hoping the ratings go up from last week. A viral audition will do that and with AGT being the No. 1 summer show, I feel it will do just that.
