The CW orders pilot for ‘Batwoman’
It’s official! The CW is bringing Batwoman to the small screen.
The network announced on Thursday that it’s ordering a pilot for the show starring Ruby Rose just three weeks after the Arrowverse crossover event, which formally introduced Rose’s Batwoman character to fans.
Emmy-winning director David Nutter will be in charge of directing the pilot. Nutter is best known for his work on Game of Thrones but has also directed the pilots for The Flash, Arrow, Supernatural, and Smallville – all of which were picked up for series by The CW/WB.
Here is the official description for the pilot according to The CW: “Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (star Ruby Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”
