Arrowverse crossover confirmed as ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ for 2019

The most famous storyline in DC Comics history is coming to The CW next fall as it was officially announced on Tuesday that the next Arrowverse crossover will be titled Crisis on Infinite Earths.

The announcement came at the end of Tuesday’s Elseworlds finale, and thankfully, it basically confirms that Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash will all likely be renewed for another season.

But what does the upcoming crossover mean for the Arrowverse?

Ever since The Flash began in Season 1, they have teased a crisis where Barry goes missing and never returns and that storyline has picked up again in the current season when Nora, Barry’s daughter, time travels from the future to meet her dad.

Over on Arrow, the flash-forwards show a very different Star City. Felicity is supposedly dead, while Oliver is missing and Future William, Dinah, and Roy are looking into why William was sent to Lian Yu in the first place.

In the comics, Barry Allen and Supergirl both die while sabotaging the Anti-Monitor’s weapon to speed up time. Though we likely won’t see that happen next year as that storyline was a main part of the crossover finale this year.

I think ‘Crisis’ will have events that affect the entire Arrowverse and carry into the shows’ storylines the following season while putting the future events on Arrow and The Flash into motion.

‘Crisis’ was used in the comics to create one world where all the heroes existed. So does that mean Black Lightning will officially join the Arrowverse next year?

It is way too soon to know for sure but seeing how The CW announced the crossover title a year in advance seems to imply they are prepping fans for something huge. And it will very likely change the Arrowverse forever.
