Guess Who’s Back? Mary Murphy Rejoins the Judges Table on SYTYCD

Fox Television announced Thursday that former Hot Tamale Train conductor Mary Murphy will return to the judges table for the (surprise) return of season 14 of So You Think You Can Dance. It’s time to dust off those earplugs!

Two years ago So You Think You Can Dance made an unsuccessful attempt to mix things up by replacing Murphy with Paula Abdul and Jason DeRulo. Format changes and the absence of Mary seemingly contributed to falling ratings, but things are looking to return to normal with Mary’s homecoming and a back to basics format. Could all this signal a final season last hurrah? (Come on people…watch this!!)

“I am thrilled that Mary will return to So You Think You Can Dance, and I’m sure the fans will be as well. She brings an energy and enthusiasm that’s contagious, and I can’t wait for her to join me on the judging panel. I’ve got a pair of earplugs ready, and another for our third resident judge as well,” said executive producer Nigel Lythgoe.

Contestants between the ages of 18-30 will again perform all dance styles, including: ballet, hip-hop, jazz and more. The top 10 will be paired with All-Stars and compete for the title of America’s Favorite (Grown-Up) Dancer. (I loved those kids. It was a fun experiment, but thankfully we’re back to business.)

Oh, and Nigel and Cat will be back too. Where do we petition to get Adam Shankman and Jesse Tyler Ferguson to rotate in and out of that final seat? Or how about Mia Michaels, Sonya Tayeh … or I’d even take a carousel of choreographers in that third chair. This could be fun!

All potential contestants are encouraged to register at the online audition portal: https://soyouthinkyoucandanceseason14.castingcrane.com/ and upload a video or provide a link to a video of their performance.

Dancers must provide legal, valid proof of age when they register for auditions. Check https://soyouthinkyoucandanceseason14.castingcrane.com/ and/or www.fox.com/dance for full eligibility rules, official rules and additional details.
