TNWU Weekly Superlatives (October 9th-15th)

It was a very busy week in TV, and we are here to bring you the best of the best!  There were evil stepmothers, amazingly dressed men with sinister names, and even a touch of cannibalism.  So without further ado, here are the TNWU Weekly Superlatives!

TALK NERDY WITH US WEEKLY TV SUPERLATIVE AWARDS:

Best One-Liner: Supernatural

“I don’t have a harp.” -Castiel

most badass character: SUPERNATURAL

Sam Winchester

unspecified

Captured and tortured by the UK MOL, Sam thinking his brother is dead and that there is no one coming to his rescue fights through the pain and even tricks Toni to try to escape.  Through it all, he gives them nothing but a ‘screw you.’  BAMF indeed. (Contributed by Debbi Bachman)

Most Lovable Character: Once Upon a Time

Captain Hook

I may be a bit bias here, but during last week’s episode, it’s clear that Hook is nothing but supportive towards Emma.  Also, he’s bonding with her son which makes my heart swell.  Let’s not forget that scene where he entertains Cinderella’s daughter by putting whipped cream on his nose.  He’s changed quite a bit over the last few seasons. Bad Guy/Girl of the Week: Once Upon a Time

Cinderella’s stepmother

the-evil-stepmother-once-upon-a-time-s6e3

We knew she was unkind, but in Cinderella’s untold story she’s vicious and murderous.  And not only to Cinderella but to her stepsister too.  Stepsister wanted to marry a farmer, but Mama was not going for it, so she pushes her daughter into Storybooke.  Later she tries to shoot the farm boy and then stabs Ella in the gut. Best Kiss: Notorious

Ella and Ryan

Lawyer Ella and rich kid intern Ryan have been eyeballing one another for weeks.  It took awhile for him to ask her out and he actually asks to “hang” with her, to which Ella replied, we’re not 12.   After a long day of solving a case Ryan comes over to Ella’s place, and it doesn’t take long for a steamy round of tonsil hockey to begin. Best Dressed: Lucifer

Biggest OTP Moment: Once Upon a Time

Emma and Hook

For Captain Swan shippers, Sunday’s episode was huge for the couple. Emma finally asked Hook to move in with her.  She even told him she’d move some of her red leather for his black leather.  *fangirl scream*  This is a big step for them because Emma is not used to being an open book, but with Hook, she’s willing to let him in completely.  It was an adorable moment. Most Heartbreaking Moment: The Flash

Barry Allen realizes how Flashpoint has changed everyone’s lives

When Barry got back from his attempt at fixing his first time-travel snafu (where he saved his mother but altered the timeline) by undoing what he had done, he discovers that everyone he knows has changed, and largely for the worse.  Iris isn’t talking to her father, Cisco’s brother is dead, and things are just…wrong.  He goes to Star City to get advice from Felicity, only to discover that Flashpoint has had such far-reaching effects that even people in Star City have different lives.  No longer does John Diggle have a little girl; instead, he has a son.  That moment, when Barry realizes that not only did he affect the lives of his friends but also essentially wiped a small child out of existence, was heartbreaking in every sense of the word. MOST HEARTfelt reunion: supernatural

dean and Mary Winchester

unspecified

The moment when Mary realizes that Dean is, in fact, her grown-up son (who she last saw at age 4) is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.  Both Dean and Mary’s careful dance around each other as they get caught up was perfectly written and played. (Contributed by Debbi Bachman)

Best Buddy Moment: Lethal Weapon

Riggs and Murtaugh in Couple’s Counseling

After Riggs gives Roger Jr. a ride and doesn’t tell Murtaugh, Murtaugh goes ballistic and punches Riggs in the face, and as a result, they end up in couple’s counseling, where they have to find something good about each other.  Riggs says he likes Murtaugh’s shiny bald dome and Murtaugh responds with “and your mustache doesn’t almost look ridiculous.” (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

Best Action Scene: Arrow

The ring the bell scenes

ar502a_0162b

Oliver uses a training exercise he learned when joining the Bratva to train his new recruits.  The parallels between the two scenes and watching Oliver take down the three recruits over and over again make these scenes fun to watch.  While perhaps not the most intense action scenes of the week, the two together not only made for enjoyable television, but also have background information and moved the plot forward when action scenes are often used solely for entertainment purposes. Best Plot-twist: Timeless

Lucy discovers her father is not actually her father

Timeless

Poor Lucy.  So far, with each return from time travel, Lucy learns things about her life that utterly changes her existence.  Last week it was the erasing of her sister from history.  This week, she and viewers learn her sister was erased because her parents did not get married in this reality.  Since Lucy does still exist, not only does her sister not exist, but her mom had been lying to her in the previous reality.  Can someone just cut Lucy some slack?  Geez. Most Shocking: The Exorcist

Finding Out Casey has burned her genitals

jufljlq

Last week we saw Casey burn various parts of her body.  After her attack on the boy on a subway train, Casey is Baker Acted.  During her exam, it is revealed she masturbated with the curling iron.  The hot curling iron. (Contributed Arlene Allen)

Most Suspenseful: Van Helsing

Vanessa and her former neighbor now a vampire go head to head

Vanessa has been captured by a rival vampire leader, Julius.  He wants to see what it is she actually does.  So he pits her in one on one combat with a snarling, raging female vampire – who turns out to be Vanessa’s neighbor Susan – and the last person to see Vanessa’s daughter alive. Most Terrifying Scene: American Horror Story: Roanoke

Elias being slowly cannibalized

On the run from the Butcher and her angry colonists Shelby, Matt and Flora end up at the Polks’ farm, but this time, it’s occupied.  They find Elias still alive but missing a few limbs.  He warns the trio not to eat the jerky even when Mama Polk practically forces it into their mouths.  When Mama takes a bite, she determines the meat is too tough and casually bashes Elias’ face in with a hammer. Performer of the Week: Lethal Weapon

Clayne Crawford as Martin Riggs

he-means-business-lethal-weapon-season-1-episode-4

Clayne Crawford delivers a nuanced performance as the damaged, grieving, adrenaline junkie cop Martin Riggs.  He’s funny and smart assed until Murtaugh makes a thoughtless comment, and ever so slightly you see Riggs’ face lose all of its happiness with the downturn of his mouth and the gaze dropping.  Crawford gives Riggs all of the feels.
