TNWU Weekly Superlatives (October 23rd-29th)

This week in TV wasn’t just any ordinary week on TV, it was devastating for fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Not only did one character fall, but two, and the cries of the fandom can still probably be heard around the world.
TALK NERDY WITH US WEEKLY TV SUPERLATIVE AWARDS:
Best One-Liner: The Walking Dead
“suck my nuts.” – Abraham
Abraham went out in true Abraham fashion, delivering a line that is so Abraham-esque that it will be remembered for seasons to come. He sure does have a way with words, and even facing an imminent death, her didn’t let Negan have the upper hand.
Most Lovable Character: Elementary
Sherlock
Sherlock had such a great character moment this week. He is normally quite adamantly against marriage. But when he does a favor for Captain Gregson’s girlfriend Paige and notices her dire financial straits he goes to Gregson and tells him to marry her. He also goes to Paige, and then arranges a lunch date for them. He even offers up rings for Gregson to propose with (he does, she says yes). Aw, Sherlock, you’re such a softie at heart. Biggest Jerk: Once Upon a Time
Aladdin
I have a lot to say about this but, boy oh boy am I mad at him! He was tempted out of savior – hood. You gave those darn scissors to Emma! You couldn’t man up and face Jasmine until you were shamed into it!!! And oh by the way thank you for ruining that movie for me. Prince Ali mighty is he my behind! (Contributed by Arlene Allen)
Bad Guy/Girl of the Week: Once Upon a Time
Jafar
Jafar turns people into rats. He’s turned the King of Agrahbar into a simple minded child, playing with toys. He tempts Aladdin away from Savior-hood. Very bad man! (Can’t wait to see more!) (Contributed by Arlene Allen)
Biggest OTP Moment: Gotham
Nygmobblepot
Penguin admits he’s in love with Nygma. Too bad Nygma doesn’t know yet. (Contributed by Jenni Bradley)
Most Emotional Scene: The Walking Dead
Lucille Victims Revealed
Fans had spent six long months waiting for this moment, six months preparing for it, but nothing could have adequately prepared us for the Lucilla scene. Not only did we lose one beloved character, but two, and their deaths were anything but quick and easy. Add to it the characters’ final moments (Abraham flashing Sasha the peace sign – something that has become a sort of ‘I love you’ between them – and Glenn promising Maggie that he’ll find her), and literally everyone was in tears. I think that I’m still crying.
Most Heartbreaking Moment: The Walking Dead
What could have been
As if losing two beloved characters wasn’t enough, getting a glimpse of what life could have been like shattered us. In a dream-like sequence, we got to see #TeamFamily gathered at a table eating dinner. A Gleggia baby is present, Sasha is pregnant, and everyone is happy…a stark contrast to their new reality.
Most Heartwarming Moment: this is us
Uncle Kevin and his Nieces
Uncle Kevin comes to stay with the Pearson family unannounced, as most people in his family do. After giving Beth and Randall a deserved night out, Kevin gets in some hot water with his nieces during a conversation about death and their newly discovered grandpa. In the closing minutes of the show, Uncle Kevin redeems himself by sharing one of his paintings, full of color and lines, where he eloquently delivers a monologue that perfectly weaves the basic fabric of this show. There is no beginning or end to life. It’s all one “sloppy, wild, colorful, magical thing.” (Contributed by Shawn Cole)
Weirdest Moment: Once Upon a Time
Zelena and the Evil Queen
The spa say between the two evil sisters was just plain awkward. Almost to the point where I wanted to mute the TV. Both women talked about seducing Rumple and how attracted they are to him. It was just…no. The whole scene was weird and random. They’re just getting their nails done like everything’s all good. (Contributed by Madeline Klepec)
Most Shocking: Once Upon a Time
Emma and Hook
Sigh. One step forward, one step backwards. Emma had Hook dispose of the Savior scissors because she was ready to accept her face. So as Hook rowed back to Emma, the two shared an intimate moment (GUYS, she mentioned having dinner and drinking rum by the fire with Hook. This means he’s finally moved in!) before Emma walked away. Low and behold, Hook pulls the scissors from his jacket which made surprised the heck out of me. Although, I understand why he kept them… (Contributed by Madeline Klepec)
Performer of the Week: Elementary
Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes
Jonny Lee Miller really is the unsung hero of television. He’s given brilliant performances as a genius, a junkie, a recovering junkie, a man who’s lost at love, a sex machine, the dubious result of a bad childhood and this week, a matchmaker. He continues to surprise and delight with his dry humor. And that face, that Grumpy Cat face he maintains – priceless! (Contributed by Arlene Allen)
