Talk Nerdy With Us Weekly Superlatives (September 1st-10th)

Most Badass Character: Fear The Walking Dead

Alicia Clark

4

When we first met Alicia Clark in season one, she was just your average teenage girl.  There wasn’t really anything that screamed badass about her, and the fact that the entire outbreak was kept a secret from her for so long made it seem likely that she would be one of the first to depart from the show.  But in “Do Not Disturb,” Alicia not only proved that she has the potential to become a leader, but that she is also pretty badass.

So, what constitutes her receiving this award?  Jumping into an elevator shaft, dealing with a stranger and gaining her trust, leading a horde of the infected away, killing the infected, and scaling the side of a hotel seven stories up.  Pretty badass if you ask me.

Most Lovable Character: Atlanta

Earn

Earn is a good guy with a generous heart but “down on his luck” doesn’t even come close to what life is handing him: his baby mama is dating someone else, his parents won’t let him in the door, his cousin is too busy getting high to listen to Earn’s advice on the music business.  He gets held responsible for a shooting his cousin did and while his cousin is now a rap hero, Earn is stuck in jail.  Earn needs hugs.  Lots of hugs.

Bad Guy/Girl of the Week: Fear The Walking Dead

Chris Manawa

2

Chris, oh, Chris, you’re just not doing too well, are you?  Chris has been traversing down a dark path ever since his mother died, and while Travis has been hoping that he’d be able to bring him back, it may be too little too late.  He is adapting to this new world, but he is losing any and all traces of humanity.  When he finds himself thrown into the mix of a group of young men, all who seem to have a similar mindset, he falls back into old ways.  His crimes?  He murders a man when he and his new group stumble upon his land and take his chickens.  We may be witnessing the making of a villain here.

Funniest Scene: Better Things

Max asking her mom to buy pot

Sam is a single mom with three daughters.  On the way to school one morning, Max mentions a friend whose mom said she’d be okay with her kid toking in her house, so Max asks Sam to buy her pot.  After being rightfully stunned and appalled Sam says no, to which Max replies, “Don’t you want me to have good nugs?”

Performer of the Week: Fear The Walking Dead

Alycia Debnam-Carey

It’s no secret that Alycia Debnam-Carey is an amazing actress, and it really shouldn’t come as a surprise that she has landed the spot as “Performer of the Week.”  Her acting is impeccable, and her performance of a teenage girl coming into her own during the zombie apocalypse is believable.  She proved herself yet again in “Do Not Disturb,” and the beginning sequence of her in the hotel room preparing for battle (or rather facing the infected that wait just outside of the door) was riveting.  It’s also worth mentioning her skills with that butterfly knife!

That’s it for this week! Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments and let us know if we missed anything or if there are any categories you would like us to add! We will see you in next week with more Talk Nerdy With Us TV Superlative Awards!
