Exclusive Interview with The Bachelorette’s Christian Bishop
26-year-old, Christian Bishop was a contestant on this season of ABC’s The Bachelorette. The Telecom Consultant impressed JoJo and fans with his winning smile and attitude. Unfortunately, JoJo developed stronger relationships with the other men in the house and sent him home. TNWU caught up with Christian to discuss his experience and what makes him nerdy. Read our interview below.
How did you decide that going on The Bachelorette was the right route for you?
Coming into the year I committed to myself and mother that I would be open to new things and relationships. I was approached by casting and decided to give this journey a shot!
What can you share about the application process?
It’s very detailed. They spend a lot of time to make sure they are giving the bachelorette solid suitors.
What did you see in JoJo that made you want to be on The Bachelorette? Did you even know that JoJo would be the Bachelorette before you made your decision to go?
I actually didn’t know who the bachelorette was going to be.
Can you describe your emotions, feelings, and thoughts going into the house and after your first group date with the sports broadcasters?
I left the group date extremely frustrated and disappointed with Chad. It’s easy to deal with his negativity toward the rest of the guys. He crossed a line with the way he was interacting with Joelle. I felt like he was being disrespectful toward the process and her sacrifice.
You seemed to stay away from the drama in the house. Did the tension in the house affect you and your journey with JoJo?
The tension affected me because it took a lot out of Joelle. She has a lot on her plate managing this many relationships.
What inspired the bubble bath and rubber ducky with JoJo? Was it your plan to steal some of her time, or was it spur of the moment?
(laughs) This was a lot about having fun and relaxing with her. She spent so much time dealing with tension and drama in the house. I did my best to stay far away from all that.
Sadly, you were sent home last week. Was it a shock or did you see it coming?
I went into the process with an open mind and heart. I had to be fully comfortable with the outcome. At the end of the day, I was there to support her… Even in my final moments.
What is it like watching the show now? Have you watched episodes 1-4? Do you plan on watching the rest of the season?
Very interesting insight. When we are at the mansion we are completely oblivious to her connection and relationships with other guys. It’s not easy to watch!
Who do you think is the best match for JoJo? Who do you want to see her with at the end?
I look forward to watching this love story develop. I want her to find someone special and build that love we all are looking for. Can’t wait to watch!
What was it like having to deal with someone (Chad) who could blow at any time?
Chad made a lot of people uncomfortable. He never tried to get physical with me. So I was fine.
If there was one thing you could change about your experience being on the show what would it be?
Coming into the process I committed to being open, authentic, and respectful to anyone I came across. I think I’d be more vocal about getting that message across to others.
Did you and the rest of the cast ever get to eat or did Chad just take all the food in the house?
Chad literally ate all the food (laughs). We did our best to cast “conjure food” but due to minimal mana/energy levels, we struggled to cast the appropriate spells. As the season progresses you will see clear signs of resurrection sickness.
Were you surprised to see Chad leave on the two-and-one?
Alex is a warrior. I call him “The Dude”. He’s a guys guy. No surprise he vanquished the villain.
What date (that you weren’t selected for) do you wish you could’ve been on?
I wish I was selected for every one on one. Would have been great to take an adventure with Joelle up north Yoga might have been a little better. It got pretty hot in there!
Our website is called Talk Nerdy With Us, so what brings out your inner nerd? What do you “nerd out” over?
What an EPIC question. Anything dragons and magic is right up my alley. I love Game of Thrones! I’ve played 10+ MMOs, DND, Pathfinder, Mech warrior, numerous console games. I am a true nerd to the max. Give me a bag of D20s, pen, and paper and I’ll GM for you any day.
What’s the last video game you played? How many hours did you spend playing it?
WoW – Good ole world of warcraft. I’m a sucker for a solid MMO … I raided for three times a week for at least 3 hours a day. That 9 hours doesn’t include pvp, daily quests, etc…
Are you currently in a D&D party? If not when is the last time you played?
I am currently not a part of any D&D clubs. I was able to play pathfinder online with friends using a D20 virtual mechanic. The whole process was pretty tragic. We had to post our turns and rounds in forums and give the GM time to play things out. The game played very slowly … Tough to stay engaged.
What was your character?
Mage all day… Pew pew fireball… Love my glass cannons… Cloth wearers with respectable range
