Alternative Press Announces First Round of Performers for the 2016 APMAs

As the third annual Alternative Press Music Awards near, Alternative Press has announced the first group of performers that will take the stage.
As honorees of the first ever classic album award for their 2002 breakthrough album The Young and the Hopeless, Good Charlotte’s inclusion will certainly get some attention. After a four-year hiatus, Good Charlotte reformed last year and the band’s performance will fall just days after the release of their sixth studio album, Youth Authority.
AP has been such a part of our history, and has had an impact on so many other bands as well. We are excited to come and celebrate that history and be a part of the awards show. Especially, this year as we’ve decided to come back with GC, celebrating 20 years as a band, it means a lot to us, to be given such a special platform to reconnect with our fans, and share our new record, Youth Authority, with everyone on the big night.
-Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden
Fellow performer Yellowcard will be the recipient of the first ever Vans Off The Wall Award. This new award was created to honor a band that showcases and inspires creative expression.
We are truly humbled to be asked to be a part of the show and to be honored with this special award. Alternative Press has been such a huge support not only for Yellowcard, but for all the bands in this scene.
-Yellowcard vocalist Ryan Key
In addition to Good Charlotte and Yellowcard, other performers will include Papa Roach, Best International Band nominee BABYMETAL, and the nominee for Best Vocalist, Best Live Band, and Artist of the Year, Beartooth. The show will be especially sweet for Beartooth as it will represent a homecoming for the Columbus, Ohio natives.
[It’s] Pretty crazy to be nominated for three awards this year and be able to play some music live. It’s always a fun time at the APMAs. Tons of good friends, good hangs, and everybody is partying their ass off!-Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo
As the event nears, Alternative Press will be announcing additional performers and nominees before the APMAs kick off July 18 in Columbus, OH. Fans can vote now for nominees by visiting the official APMA voting site. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
