Lifetime Network Announces Summer Premieres

June 6, 2016, marks the Lifetime Network premiere of Devious Maids at 9:00 pm ET/PT immediately followed by the debut of UnREAL at 10:00 pm ET/PT. The network has ordered ten episodes of each show and you won’t want to miss a minute of them. Also announced is the UnREAL scripted spinoff series The Faith Diaries. The Faith Diaries follows Faith (Breeda Wool) and her girlfriend Amy while they pursue Hollywood dreams in LA while learning about their relationship. The series is written and produced by Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, co-creator and executive producer of UnREAL.
UnREAL
Lifetime’s critically acclaimed UnREAL continues to push the limits with its highly anticipated return for a second season. The show, which is produced by A+E Studios was recently honored by the American Film Institute as a Television Program of the Year and was also nominated for three Critics’ Choice Awards, with Constance Zimmer winning for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
UnREAL gives viewers a behind the scenes look at the production of a fictitious dating competition program called, Everlasting. The series was co-created by Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and stars Shiri Abbleby and Constance Zimmer as producers Rachel Goldberg and Quinn King. Season two shakes up the cast and crew as Everlasting casts an African-American suitor – a first for the series.
Everlasting’s new suitor Darius Hill, an All-American football star, will be played by B.J. Britt with returning series regulars, Craig Bierko as Everlasting’s creator, Chet, who is on a quest to reclaim his full power on set; Josh Kelly as Jeremy, Everlasting’s director of photography; and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman as Jay, a field producer whose ambitions run far beyond the show.
Noxon and Shapiro executive produce UnREAL, along with Robert M. Sertner, Carol Barbee, Sally DeSipio, Stacy Rukeyser, Peter O’Fallon and Adam Kane. In following the mission of Lifetime’s Broad Focus initiative, this season of UnREAL also features four female directors including Shapiro, Appleby in her directorial debut, Janice Cooke and Nzingha Stewart.
Devious Maids
Inspired by the hit telenovela, Ellas son… la alegría del hogar, Devious Maids, returns for ten all-new episodes as season four debuts. Once again we will enter the mansions of the Beverly Hills’ most powerful families where murder and mayhem collide on a regular basis. The season four premiere will feature a special guest appearance by Eva Longoria, so be sure to tune in on June 6th.
Devious Maids follows a close-knit group of friends, Marisol (Ana Ortiz), Rosie (Dania Ramírez), Carmen (Roselyn Sánchez) and Zoila (Judy Reyes), who are bonded together by their jobs, life struggles and the melodramatic and glamorous universe that engulfs their employers. The series is executive produced by Marc Cherry and Eva Longoria.
This season, Marisol also finds herself in a new relationship, which eventually becomes complicated when her old flame Jesse reappears. She will also find herself acting as a support system to Evelyn (Rebecca Wisocky) who is navigating a big life change. Meanwhile, Rosie’s positive and sunny disposition goes unappreciated by her boss, Genevieve (Susan Lucci) who is acclimating to a household without Zoila’s honest and acerbic humor. Carmen continues to pursue her singing career until her cousin Daniela (Sol Rodriguez) comes to town and shakes things up.
Also appearing in the series are Tom Irwin, Grant Show and Nathan Owens. They are joined by Longoria’s Desperate Housewives cast mate James Denton, Carlos Ponce, Ryan McPartlin, Stephanie Faracy and Elizabeth Rodriguez in supporting roles. Kathryn LaNasa will join her real-life husband, Grant Show, in a special guest appearance.
Devious Maids is produced by ABC Studios and was created by Cherry. The show is executive produced by Cherry, Sabrina Wind, Longoria, Brian Tanen, Curtis Kheel, Larry Shuman, David Lonner, John Mass and Televisa USA’s Paul Presburger and Michael Garcia.
