Cover Wars: Pillow Talk

“Pillow Talk” is the first solo single from Zayn Malik, former member of One Direction. The song was released on January 29, 2016 as the lead single from Zayn’s debut studio album, Mind of Mine. The album is due to be released March 25, 2016.

The video for “Pillow Talk” was also released on January 29, 2016 and features Zayn’s rumored girlfriend, Gigi Hadid, along with kaleidoscope video effects and sexual imagery. This came after Zayn released the artwork for the single on Twitter on January 24th. Subsequently an acoustic version of the song was released on February 3, 2016, featuring Zayn and an acoustic guitar backing.

While “Pillow Talk” has not been out long enough for it to be charted, I’m sure it is going to be a force to reckon with in coming weeks as it gains popularity. As a raging One Direction fan I wanted to hate this song very much. I wanted Zayn to suck as a solo artist, however, I have to admit that “Pillow Talk” is amazing and catchy and Zayn has a great solo career ahead of him. I can’t get this song out of my head and I’m ready for my local radio station to pick it up so I can stop hearing “Sorry” every two songs, sorry not sorry, Justin.
