Magnet School’s Sophomore Album Is Due Out Today

Magnet School, an alternative indie rock group, are thrilled to share their long-awaited sophomore album The Art of Telling The Truth which is being released today by Shifting Sounds Records & Sunshine HQ. This indie alternative band has made waves on the music scene. Speaking about their new record, GoldFlakePaint offered:
“…full to the brim with slabs of noisy guitar, still led by that part-fiery, part-melancholic, lead vocal the record is a brash undertaking, a rip-roaring concoction of shoegaze and noise-rock that positively explodes out of the speakers. The mood is dense and somewhat volatile but there is a light here too, the band know when to leap forward and when to suddenly rein the whole thing in.”
Magnet School, from Austin, Texas, offers a distinct and instantly recognizable style with an original approach to songwriting which has made them a standout act in Austin Texas indie music circles. The band, consisting of Michael J. Wane (guitar and Vox), Mark Ford (guitar and Vox), Brandon Tucker (bass) and Erik Conn (drums), first emerged on the scene back in 2007 and were quickly named as a “Buzzcatcher” band by Spin Magazine after the release of “Tonight We Drink… Tomorrow We Battle The Evil at Hand”. This distinction earned them comparisons to Secret Machines and Dinosaur Jr., however Magnet School remains unique among their peers.
Since the release of their first record, the band has toured throughout the South and in the UK, including shows in London, Sheffield, and Liverpool as part of Will Sergeant’s (Echo & The Bunneymen) “FRICTION Presents”. Magnet School made an instant impression at all venues, winning over fans with their energetic and melodic sound, while sharing the stage with a number of unique and diverse bands such as: …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, The Life and Times, Future of the Left, Ume, Ultimate Fakebook, Shiner, and I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness.
