Leading up to Wizard World New Orleans
This coming weekend, January 8-10, thousands of nerds, geeks, and fans will descend upon The Big Easy for Wizard World: New Orleans.
Yours truly will be there, attending my very first convention. Ever. Am I nervous? A little. Am I expecting to have loads of fun? Absolutely!
You can check out the full programming list here, but below are some of the sessions I hope to attend (and why):
PARANORMAL EVIDENCE REVEALED WITH THE PARANORMAL SOCIETY OF NEW ORLEANS
Are you kidding me?! I freaking LOVE the paranormal. And knowing the rich history of New Orleans there’s bound to be some great stories. It’s the first session listed on Friday and I can’t imagine a better way to begin the weekend.
COSABILITY – DISABLED AND PROUD
Having somewhat followed my mother’s footsteps, I’ve worked with people who have both visible and/or invisible disabilities. Learning how to incorporate one’s disability into their costume seems like a great idea.
COSTUMES + PLAYING = COSPLAY! SO WHAT DOES THAT ACTUALLY MEAN?
I admit, I’m not a cosplayer. I’m a “casual cosplayer,” meaning I have TARDIS and R2-D2 sundresses (that I’ll totally be wearing this weekend so keep an eye out!). This How-To session should be both fun and educational. Funducational!
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR CAST PANEL HOSTED BY ANTHONY AND JOSEPH RUSSO
I mean, was there any doubt?! I’m Team Cap all the way and I look forward to this session. I have a feeling it will be packed, so maybe I’ll be one of those crazy Hall-H line sleepers. Ok maybe not. But expect it to be full!
COMPANIONS THROUGH TIME WITH KAREN GILLAN AND JENNA COLEMAN
Again, was there any doubt that I’d be at this panel? Amy Pond is my 2nd favorite companion (coming in THISCLOSE behind Donna). Anything Doctor Who related and you know I’ll be all over it. Expect some major live-tweeting here.

If you’ve been following Talk Nerdy With Us for the past few months then you know how obsessed I am with Gotham (and live-tweet the heck out of the show). Enough said!

It’s Shane! Or the Punisher. Whichever fandom is strongest for you! (I’m 100% on board for the Punisher in Daredevil Season 2)

Considering I’ve been doing my annual Battlestar Galactica rewatch, I’d say this panel is a given.
I found out this morning that Matt Smith (yes, THAT Matt Smith that I’m completely obsessed with) had to cancel his appearance due to filming The Crown. Understandable! Hopefully I’ll catch a glimpse of some of the other actors and artists.
