“Hold Back the River” is the second single from British artist James Bay’s debut studio album, Chaos and Calm. The song was released in the UK on November 14, 2014 through Republic Records. The music video for the song was released in October of 2014.
“Hold Back the River” peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart and is certified platinum in the UK as well. The song also charted in the Top 20 on four various US Billboard charts.
I am absolutely in love with James Bay’s voice and the second I heard this song I was hooked. Something about the easy-going, slow build song feels perfect for winter time and I have been blasting this while wrapping presents for Christmas. I can’t get enough of it and thus I chose it for this week’s Cover Wars.
