Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Josh’s Girfriend Is Really Cool Preview

downloadCrazy Ex-Girlfriend, the new comedy joining Jane the Virgin on the CW’s Monday night lineup, premiered October 12 at 8/7c.  It is a musical comedy created by Rachel Bloom (who plays the series main character, Rebecca Bunch) and Aline Brosh McKenna.  It is fresh and funny.  And if the pilot was any indication, Bloom and McKenna have a hit on their hands.

The premise finds Rebecca Bunch, a young attorney on an upward career path giving up a job promotion and an upscale Manhattan apartment to follow a guy named Josh who she dated one summer when she was in high school (who also broke up with her) to West Covina, California.  Rebecca’s story is highlighted by a series of musical numbers throughout the episode.  The pilot was very appealing and perfectly set up the characters.

In the second episode title “Josh’s Girlfriend is Really Cool”, Rebecca continues her pursuit of Josh not letting the fact that he already has a girlfriend stand in her way.  Her plan involves the old ‘make friends with your competition’ ploy.

Rebecca is the other woman attempting to come between a happy couple.  There are several questions in this scenario:  How happy are Josh and his girlfriend really? Does Rebecca have the right to come between them?  As it is Rebecca’s story, she’s our heroine, so are we suppose to cheer her on?

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend airs Mondays at 8/7c on the CW.
