Is Cameron Monaghan really leaving "Shameless"

To say that Cameron Monaghan’s career has gotten a tad bigger since Season 1 of the Showtime show Shameless premiered would be a bit of an understatement. To say his fanbase has grown by leaps and bounds would be an even bigger understatement. So you can understand why when at the end of Season 3 he tweeted that he was unable to “Confirm or Deny” his involvement in the upcoming fourth season his fans, of him and of his character Ian, went a little crazy in the feels.

However, soon they had convinced themselves that he was just messing with them and there was no way the writers were going to write off one of the Gallagher kids and they especially wouldn’t write off Ian. Nope, not possible. They would sooner believe Frank was getting written off than Ian. And, then more parts started rolling for the 20-year old actor. Good parts, bigger parts. Parts that any young actor hoping to remain in the business for a long time would be foolish to pass up.

So once again the Ian/Shameless fandom started getting skittish again. With every casting announcement they had to adjust their reality a little more. Going from “there’s no way he’s leaving the show” to “okay so he might miss a few episodes” to “I can’t believe he’s really leaving, but what about Mickey and the rest of the Gallaghers?”

Monaghan will soon begin filming “The Giver” along with Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaites, Meryl Streep, and Alexander Skarsgard and his film “Vampire Academy” is scheduled to premiere on February 14th, 2014. It has also been stated that he is attached to star alongside Bonnie Wright (of Harry Potter fame) and Eiza Gonzalez in the film “All Hail the Squash Blossom Queen” which would be filmed in 2014. So does this mean we can expect an Ianless season of Shameless? Perhaps, and this is one fan that thinks that while that would be a shame, I wish the young actor nothing but luck as he embarks on new roles.
