‘Under the Dome’ Episode 1.06 "The Endless Thirst"

The people of Chester’s Mill have received some good news and they received some bad news this week. The good news was that while not every townsperson is guaranteed to return for Season 2 we know that a good bit of them will. The bad news was that an apparent side effect of not taking your insulin medicine is you can hallucinate, stumble in front of an on-coming truck, and cause it to take out the town’s water tower.  They really should put that on the warning label.

Luckily for the town the dome allowed for the condensation from the methane laced lake to form rain clouds which filtered the water enough to make it drinkable. I swear I couldn’t make this stuff up even if I tried. Now I could Google all that scientific garble, but I’m tired and frankly I don’t care enough. I do find it interesting that the dome has latched itself on to a couple of teenagers. A couple of teenagers who spent most of their time hunting down diabetics for their stash of medication. Unfortunately for them the only supply they were able to find was that of an 8-year-old. Of course that didn’t stop Norrie from snagging one bottle for her mom. Hey a girls got to do what a girls got to do.
And Angie apparently feels the need to run from one danger to the next. That girl definitely does not have the luck of the Irish and neither does Rose thanks to a couple of jackasses. Leave it to a water shortage scare to really bring out the town’s psychos. How long has that dome been up? Maybe a week and a half? Chill people, damn. I don’t know about anyone else, but I got the impression that a part of Big Jim hopes that Angie will take care of the Junior situation for him. There’s no way he can do it himself, but he knows his son has gone round the bend and isn’t coming back without major doses of anti-psychotic meds. Of course Big Jim has other things on his mind at this moment, namely a fallen angel by the name of Ollie Dinsmore. I thought Junior had the market cornered on creepy, but old Ollie there could give him a run for his money.

So Julia didn’t waste any time getting over her husband’s disappearance.  Are we really supposed to believe that she has fallen for Barbie that quickly? I’m sorry but I’m not buying it and I don’t even care about her dearly departed husband. And then to have Sheriff Linda “casually” mention how she saw sparks between them. Ugh. I guess she has conveniently forgotten that for all intent and purpose Julia is still a married woman. Sorry but I don’t down shift that fast. (Bonus points to those of you who got that reference)

I can understand why Dodee is wanting to find out more about why Joe and Norrie are connected to the Dome, but what does she really expect to do from inside the dome? The town doesn’t seem to have a state of the art testing facility nearby and she seems a tad trigger happy to get to the experimentation point of the testing phase.  Watch out for scalpels, Seizure Twins.

The people of Chester’s Mill go stir crazy faster than a teenager who’s been grounded from all electronic devices.

Barbie has some anger issues he may want to think about working on.

I am guessing from the events of this episode crowd control drills weren’t top on the priority list.

Poor, poor Aisha Hinds all that talent and not a storyline in sight.
