The popularity of Scandinavian crime dramas doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon. A&E Network has announced their newest original scripted drama series “Those Who Kill” from Imagine Television and Fox21. Production is set to begin this fall with the ten episodes airing in 2014 on A&E. The series will star the Academy Award-nominated, Golden Globe-winning Chloë Sevigny (from Portlandia and Big Love) and James D’arcy (from Hitchcock and Cloud Atlas). The pilot episode is directed by Joe Carnahan and written by Glen Morgan who is also an executive producer/showrunner.

“Those Who Kill” is based on Elsebeth Egholm’s bestselling Danish crime series. Catherine Jensen (Sevigny) is an incredibly smart detective tracking serial killers. Jensen is also trying to deal with her past by investigating her stepfather, who she suspects is a serial killer, and her brother, who went missing at 16. Thomas Schaffer (D’Arcy) is a forensic psychiatrist who begins helping her track serial killers as she tries to pull him into her personal investigations. Schaffer and Jensen both have a deep psychological understand that connects them to victims and killers alike.

This show looks like it will be more of a character drama than crime procedural, but we’ll have to wait and see. Check back for more information as it gets closer!
