Why You Should Watch 'The LA Complex'
It usually takes me a couple episodes to become invested in a show and it’s characters. Rarely do I get hooked on a series because of its’ pilot alone. The last time I fell in love with a pilot was The CW’s ‘The Vampire Diaries’, before that it was ABC’s ‘Lost’. I watched ‘The LA Complex’ pilot last night and was immediately captivated.
‘The LA Complex’ has Alicia the dancer whose also a stripper, Abby a new to LA actress who just can’t catch a break, Tariq the musician whose boss won’t listen to him, Nick the comedian who isn’t funny, Kaldrick the famous hip-hop artist, Connor the gorgeous Australian actor who just landed his first leading role, and Raquel the once famous actress who may be yesterday’s news.
What makes these characters relatable and enjoyable to watch are their life like struggles. Each of them are trying to make it big in LA and none of them are having an easy time doing it.
I do love the paranormal world, you can ask anyone. Most of my favorite movies, shows, and books have a supernatural element. But, it was so refreshing to me to watch a show that was completely realistic. There were no vampires, no werewolves, no witches. No crazy psychopaths or murders. All this show has is young adults trying to follow their dreams and the difficulties they must face. I absolutely loved it.
I wanted Alicia to make Usher’s tour. I wanted Abby to ace her acting audition. I wanted Nick’s audience to laugh at his jokes, etc. I just met these characters and I already want them to be successful.
I cannot wait to see next week’s episode.
I hope you’ll tune in as well Tuesday, May 1st at 9/8c on The CW
