‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions’ recap: Who advanced to the finals in week three?
America’s Got Talent: The Champions continued on Monday night with ten more acts from around the world looking to advance to next month’s finale. It was the most dangerous and emotional show of the series thus far.
In case you missed it, here is a recap of the performances as well as the results:
DJ Arch Jr
The six-year-old was the winner of South Africa’s Got Talent season six. The pint-sized DJ took to the stage and remixed hits from the 80s, 90s, and today. He got the crowd pumping and got the show off to a strong start. While it was not worthy of going through, I did enjoy the music that was played.
Darcy Oake
The Canadian made his debut on the American stage after being a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2014. He performed a similar trick he did on BGT and suspended judge Heidi Klum in mid-air, I mean WOW. Yes, there’s a trick to it, but I really did enjoy the act and it was a massive step up from what we have seen on AGT in the past.
Angelica Hale
The runner-up of America’s Got Talent season 12 was determined to fight for the top spot this time around. The now 11-year-old performed her rendition of “Fight Song” and it got the audience and judges on their feet.
“If I can do anything, I am going to help you win this fight,” judge Howie Mandel said as he hit the Golden Buzzer, sending Angelica straight into the finals. I personally don’t feel the performance was golden buzzer worthy, but here we are.
Tom Cotter
The runner up of Season 7 of America’s Got Talent returned to the stage with some hilarious material, but apparently, Simon Cowell did not think so. Simon gave him the first red X of the spin-off and called his act “just ordinary.” I’d have to agree: Preacher Lawson really set the bar for comedy and he is the one to beat in that category.
Prince Poppycock
One of the most memorable acts in AGT history made his glorious return to the stage on Monday. Yes, I’m talking about Prince Poppycock. He started off with a musical number before transitioning into Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory”. I loved Prince Poppycock back in his original audition and I loved him even more Monday night.
Ryan Stock & AmberLynn
Okay, this was easily the grossest and most disturbing act of the night. The Season 11 act performed the same act that got Ryan sent to the hospital, a flaming arrow into his mouth. It was very terrifying and scary to watch. Thankfully, he did not nearly die this time.
Samuel J. Comroe
After getting to the finals just last season, the funnyman came back to the AGT stage and fought for his place against the best in the world. I personally did not find his set funny and I never have. But he has a feel-good story and it is good to see him back.
Paul Potts
The winner of the first-ever Britain’s Got Talent came to America for the first time and proved why he won BGT. He performed and got everyone on their feet. You could literally feel the emotion he sang with, it was beautiful. Oh Howie, if only you didn’t hit your golden buzzer so early.
Jon Dorenbos
The fan favorite and former NFL player made his comeback after one tough year. He was traded from the Eagles to the New Orleans Saints, but a physical revealed he had a heart condition that would officially mark the end of his playing career. He performed one heck of a trick that left the judges, fans, and viewers in awe. I would have given him the golden buzzer if I had one.
Billy and Emily England
The danger duo closed out the night with one of the most dangerous acts in America’s Got Talent history. They did the same exact routine as they did in season 11, but it was still scary. With that said, I was left a bit bored by their performance, not because it wasn’t good but because I had seen it before.
The Results
After all the acts had performed, host Terry Crews delivered the results. Following Angelica’s golden buzzer, only one spot remained. It was revealed Jon, Billy & Emily, and Paul all made the top three. Jon would finish in third place, which was absolutely shocking. Terry then revealed Paul Potts advanced to the finals, meaning that Billy & Emily came in second place.
Angelica and Paul join Preacher Lawson, Susan Boyle, Deadly Games, and Cristina Ramos in the finals. There are just four spots left and two wildcard acts left until the finale next month.
