Timeless Renewed For Two-Part Series Finale

It really is Christmas in July, y’all. NBC announced today that they have ordered a two-part series finale movie of Timeless. It is set to air sometime during the holiday season and all 7 main cast members are expected to return, including Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey, and Claudia Doumit.
“While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of Timeless, this is the next best thing,” creators, writers and executive producers Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their passion, support and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”
If you’re not familiar with the show or why it’s such a big deal, here’s a brief overview: Timeless tells the story of a historian, soldier, and pilot who were brought together to stop the mysterious organization, Rittenhouse, from changing the course of American history through time travel.
After a 16 episode season one, it was canceled last May only to miraculously be brought back to life 3 days later by NBC. However, after a ten-episode season two aired earlier this Spring, NBC canceled it a second time at the end of June. Fans were furious as the season two finale ended with one hell of a cliffhanger: Future versions of Lucy (Spencer) and Wyatt (Lanter) arrived in the present-day bunker with an idea on how to undo their teammate Rufus’ (Barrett) death.
Clockblockers, are you as excited as I am about this news? What do you hope to see in the two-part movie? How do you think they save Rufus? Let me know in the comments below!
