Web Series “Teenagers” Will Launch Indiegogo Campaign
Award-winning Canadian web series Teenagers is launching an Indiegogo fundraising campaign asking for the community’s help. The series, directed by filmmaker M. H. Murray, premiered just over two years ago and has garnered more than 20,000 subscribers and 10 million views on YouTube. What’s contributing to its success? It focuses on the real life of teenagers rather than an idealized life that other shows tend to portray. Also leading to its success is its diversity, something that won the web series the Festival’s Choice Award for Outstanding Diverse Representation at the Toronto Web Fest.
After two seasons of captivating and relatable content, the team behind Teenagers is asking for the community’s support to help them create more content that “will, someday, be impossible for Hollywood to ignore,” citing “the need for more stories that reflect the realities of young people from all walks of life.”
Launching on November 16th, the Indiegogo campaign has a goal of raising $40,000. “Blue Isn’t The Warmest Colour,” the brand new episode, will premiere at the same time as the campaign on the official Teenagers YouTube channel.
