Talk Nerdy With Us Weekly TV Superlative Awards (May 1st-7th)

Hello there, lovely nerds! I hope you all had a fantastic week. Are you guys ready for this weeks awards? Ready or not, here they come…

HERE’S THIS WEEK’S
TALK NERDY WITH US WEEKLY TV SUPERLATIVE AWARDS:

BEST ONE-LINER: game of thrones

“it’s my job. i drink and i know things.” – tyrion lannister

tyrion-lannister-1920

Tyrion has taken his place at Daenerys’ court very serious. After telling the others that dragons do not do well in captivity, Missandei asks ‘How do you know this?’. Tyrion replies ‘That’s what I do. I drink and I know things.’ (Contributed by Allie Warner)

MOST badass CHARACTER: blindspot

patterson

nup_171728_0112-jpg

Patterson and Dr. Borden are watching over a child, Maya, when the bad guys show up to kill her. Patterson whips out her gun and goes to town on the baddies, protecting the good doctor and the little girl all at the same time, before setting off a homemade bomb to take care of the rest of the guys. Not bad for someone who spends most of her time in a lab! (Contributed by Jenni Bradley)

Honorable Mention: Luna (The 100)

MOST LOVABLE CHARACTER: penny dreadful

the creature

the-creature

So what if he looks scary, he has a beautiful, tormented soul. He is capable of great compassion and mercy despite the way he is treated by society. But honestly,  it’s the poetry that gets me. When he recites poetry his countenance changes and his eyes light up, and I’m done in. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

biggest jerk: game of thrones

THE high sparrow

In Jamie’s time of grief all the supposed Holy Man can do is hurl accusations and show his muscle. I hope they take him down in a nice gruesome Game of Thrones way. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

Honorable Mention: Morland Holmes (Elementary)

bad guy of the week: game of thrones

ramsay bolton

ramsay-1920

We’ve known Ramsey was crazy since season 3, but in ‘Home’ he went above and beyond. After hearing that he had a new baby brother, Ramsay seemingly lost it. While congratulating his father, he stabs Roose in the chest. He then requests the presence of Lady Bolton and his newborn brother. Ramsay leads them to the kennels, tells them that his father is dead, and releases the hounds. Ramsay prefers being an only child. (Contributed by Allie Warner)

biggest otp moment: the flash

iris confesses her feelings to barry

The Flash -- "Rupture" -- Image: FLA220b_0065b.jpg -- Pictured (L-R): Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and Candice Patton as Iris West -- Photo: Bettina Strauss/The CW -- © 2016 The CW Network, LLC. All rights reserved.

WestAllen fans have been (im)patiently waiting for Iris and Barry to fully acknowledge their feelings for each other, and man have they had a long and tantalizing wait. Through several significant others, time-travel, and several near-death experiences, the relationship between Iris and Barry has held strong. Finally, after working through her conflicting feelings, Iris decided to confess to Barry that she does return his feelings and wants to see if they have a future together. I am sure WestAllen fans everywhere were screaming with joy at the absolutely adorable scene as the two blushed their way through the confession, I know I was. Of course, like everything else in TV world, the confession was followed by a heartbreaking hitch that made it seem like Barry had been lost to us and Iris. Sigh.

MOST EMOTIONAL SCENE: jane the virgin

rogelio makes a video for jane

The entirety of this week’s episode was focused around Mother’s Day. At brunch, Rogelio sat Jane down to show her a video. Rogelio had asked everyone in her family to say why they thought Jane was a great mother. A tear-jerking video for both Jane, and the audience. (Contributed by Allie Warner)

MOST HEARTBREAKING MOMENT: once upon a time

Killian’s sacrifice

tumblr_o6k9cwn5ke1tuls07_og_1280

Captain Swan fans have been put through the ringer this season, and this week was no less. After spending a good part of this half of the season trying to get Killian back from the Underworld, Emma and gang are met with the realization that their plan might not work. When Hades sends Emma and Killian on a mission to secure Killian a ticket back home, they discover that they have been played by the God of the Underworld. Since there is only a small window of time in which the rescue gang can make it out of the Underworld, and they have no way of securing Killian, who is still dead, a safe passage home, Killian decides to sacrifice himself and stay behind so that Emma can get the rest of the gang safely home. The goodbye scene at the elevator between Killian and Emma is one of the most heartbreaking scenes these two have ever shared (and they have had quite a few). They say their I-love-you’s and hold hands as the elevator carries Emma upstairs, leaving Killian behind, and our badass Savior has to learn to finally let Killian go.

Honorable Mention: Barry disappears (The Flash)

MOST HEARTFELT REUNION: law and order svu

munch returns

Munch came back to help out the squad with the new case that connects to a 12-year-old case that John worked on. Seeing him partner up with Fin again just made my night. (Contributed by Jenni Bradley)

MOST heartwarming moment: law and order svu

munch babysits noah

Munch spent the evening babysitting Noah while Olivia was out getting the bad guy. Once home, she learns that Munch taught Noah to “always question authority.” (Contributed by Jenni Bradley)

best buddy moment: PENNY DREADFUL

victor frankenstein and dr. jekyll

gallery-1462104047-pennydreadful-302-0399r

Quite fun to see the former schoolmates reminisce about the good old days of being weirdos at University.  They talk about their work, hey I made a monster; well so what I have created something to cure rage in the brain’s neuroreceptors. Just two mad scientists having a sit-down. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

best action scene: PENNY DREADFUL

ethan’s rescue from the train

penny-dreadful-ethan-chandler-301-showtime

Dangerous Ethan is handcuffed and guarded not just by Inspector Rous and his partner, but by a carriage filled with federal marshals. It looks bad for Ethan until a posse of his father’s band daringly overtakes the carriage. Bullets fly, fights ensue, and when the smoke clears Ethan is gone. (contributed by Arlene Allen)

CUTEST MOMENT: castle

esposito, ryan, and ryan’s daughter dance

n5lpoh

Ryan’s daughter comes into the squad room wearing her school musical’s costume (an adorable sunflower) and is upset because she doesn’t want to perform (aka has forgotten all the words). So Ryan does the routine with her and Esposito is in the background doing the dance as well. (Contributed by Jenni Bradley)

MOST shocking MOMENT: gotham

azrael stabs captain barnes

9300060_gotham-citys-podcast-the-gotham-podcast_d89936be_m

Captain Barnes leads Azrael onto the roof to fight, while giving James the time to find a bigger gun. While fighting, Barnes knocks the mask off of Azrael. When the captain realizes it’s Theo Galavan, he hesitates and Azrael stabs him in the chest. (Contributed by Allie Warner)

MOST suspenseful moment: game of thrones

jon snow

jon-snow-alive

The fan speculation was boiling over. With an entire year of trying to convince fans Jon Snow was dead, we reached the boiling point this episode when Davros brings in Melisandre. Will she? Can she? How long does it take…and then GASP! (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

MOST terrifying scene: PENNY DREADFUL

THE ending

Renfield

The young secretary for Dr. Seward is terrorized by vicious creatures. Finally, the shadow of the leader falls over him, and asks his name, Renfield, he says. Then the screen goes back and you hear a throaty voice say, I am Dracula. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

performer of the week: supernatural

curtis armstrong

COgGAJ3WUAAb3Jj

Curtis, who plays God’s scribe Metatron, has lost his grace and is living a mortal life when he suddenly finds himself confronting God himself. Curtis turns in a stellar performance as the disillusioned scribe who finds he needs to give his boss a combination pep talk and kick in the seat of his pants in order to get God back in the game. Everything about this performance was outstanding and I wish the Emmys had more respect for genre shows and character actors. (Contributed by Debbi Bachman)
