WCW Jewel Staite

Hailing from the Great White North (as some of our lovely readers do as well), Jewel Staite is an actress who is also someone I’d love to be friends with. She’s been acting since the early 90s, but it wasn’t until the early 2000s that those of us south of the northern border became aware of her talent.

First off: Jewel is NOT Kaylee Frye from Firefly. Yes, she portrayed everyone’s favorite mechanic, but they are different people, something that Jewel has stated on many occasions. Sadly, this amazing show only lasted one season, but was resurrected in the film Serenity, which gave us a tender farewell to our beloved characters (except Wash).

Jewel has had an impressive career since Firefly ended. She had a long run on Stargate: Atlantis as Dr. Jennifer Keller and was one of the main characters, Raquel Westbook, on The L.A. Complex.

Last year Jewel reunited with fellow Firefly alums Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion for Con Man, a series based on conventions and their rabid fans.

Earlier this year Jewel had a guest spot on Legends of Tomorrow and can next be seen on the next episode of Castle, airing 5/2 at 10/9c on ABC.
