Cover Wars: Bukowski

“Bukowski” is the first brainchild of UK emo band Moose Blood, appearing initially as a demo in August of 2012, the same month the band first formed. A short time later, in February of 2013, the band released Moving Home EP through Fist in the Air, on which “Bukowski” was re-released. Almost a year later, Moose Blood announced that they were signing to No Sleep Records and due to release their first full-length album in fall of 2014. I’ll Keep You in Mind from Time to Time gave “Bukowski” a new shiny finish when it dropped, but didn’t take away from the sentimental value it had to the group and its fans.

Though still fairly new to the music industry, Moose Blood has been making headway and gaining popularity through their music, touring, and presence in social media. They played during last year’s Warped Tour, and are nominated for Alternative Press Music Awards’ “Best Underground Band” (you can vote for them by clicking here). Additionally, the band plans on releasing new music this summer sometime, so get excited!

The first time I heard “Bukowski” was probably a year ago when I’ll Keep You in Mind from Time to Time appeared as a suggestion on YouTube. I was immediately attracted to the song because it was relatable while still showing me a new perspective. How many times have you wanted the person you were pining after to do something as simple as lend you a sweater when you were cold because there was so much more meaning in that simple gesture than you could ever imagine? How many times have you wanted to be the person lending the sweater because it meant more to you than just being a friend? “Bukowski” properly captures these feelings in an ethereal way that I don’t think I can justly describe. You simply need to listen to the song to know for yourself.
