Interview with the Band of the Week: The Little Indians
The Little Indians consists of Augustine Rampolla and Kyle Gibson who used to be members of the band You Me and Everyone We Know. We recently had the chance to chat with Auggie about his new band: The Little Indians! Check out our interview below!

How did The Little Indians form?
“Me and Kyle quit our old band. Actually, we thought our old band [You Me and Everyone We Know] broke up, but it turned out we just quit. When we left that, we decided right away that we were going to start a new band, but it took six or seven months for us to really get going. It was a desire to keep on making music.”
How did you guys come up with the name The Little Indians?
“We were just tossing a bunch of names around. Kyle threw that one out there. Band names are so hard because they don’t really mean anything, it’s just really a way for people to recognize you. When he threw that one out that, at the time, I was reading the book Peter Pan so it struck a chord. When I think of it I think of youthfulness and fun like the Indians in the book. It just kind of stuck.”
Do you still keep in touch with anyone from You Me and Everyone We Know?
“Yeah, I keep in touch with most of the dudes. I even keep in touch with the guys who were in the band before I was in the band. I don’t see many of them, because most of them live in Chicago, but I definitely keep in touch with them.”
What’s your favorite song to sing live?
“That’s tough to say. The Little Indians aren’t much of a live band yet. I like playing one of our songs called “Roped In” a lot. It’s upbeat but very mellow at the same time.”
Do you have a favorite venue to perform at?
“I really like playing at the Troubadour in LA. That place is legendary. That’s probably one of my favorites, it’s not by any means the biggest or the nicest, but there’s so much history behind it. It’s pretty awesome to play at a place that so many people that I’m obsessed with have. There’s a story about John Lennon and Harry Nilsson there in the 70’s.They were super wasted and John Lennon stood all over the bar and pissed all over it. That’s all I could think about when I was playing there, so it was a pretty cool experience for me.”
Do you have a favorite lyric or verse from ‘Think Twice”?
“The opening line sets the tone. You get told think twice all the time, but for me at least, and for other people, you never really do it. It’s tough though to pick a favorite lyric from something that I wrote.”
How did you get involved with HelloGoodbye?
“About a year and a half ago when I was still with You Me and Everyone We Know, we did a tour with those guys, and we stayed in touch. This fall in October, Joe Marrow was getting married and he went on his honeymoon, so I came out. I never officially joined Hellogoodbye. I just filled in for Joe and played with them for fun.”
Who are your musical inspirations?
“I like a lot of bands, the obvious answers are bands like The Beatles and The Beach Boys. They really paved the way. Whether you like their music or not, you can’t argue with the fact that they are all incredible songwriters. I’ve been getting into more contemporary stuff too. The second you hear an album and you like, even subconsciously, it becomes an inspiration. It’s really just any album I like, whether I know it or not, my writing is influenced.”
What are you currently working on?
“Were in the final stages of mixing an album. It’s going to be a full length album just because we had too many songs. It’s finished I’m just putting the final finishes on it. I don’t know when we are going to release it yet. There is going to be a b side to that. We are working on a split with The Return Fight which is Rico’s band from You Me and Everyone We know.”
If you could collaborate with any musician, who would it be?
“Nothing against Rico, because I love him to death and he’s incredible, but Paul McCartney would be incredible to work with because he’s legendary. James Mercer from the Shins seems like he would be a cool guy to work with. I’m a fan of everything that Chris Walla from Death Cab For Cutie produces. He would be fun to work with. Everything I’ve heard from him I totally dig.”
