James Corden to Host The Tony Awards

It was announced earlier today that James Corden, current host of The Late Late Show, will be hosting the 2016 Tony Awards, which airs June 12th. I, for one, am ecstatic at this news. So what do we have to look forward to and want to see?
- James Corden himself is a talented performer. He played the Baker in 2014’s film adaptation of Into the Woods. He also has several Carpool Karaoke’s under his belt since taking over The Late Late Show. I think he has proved that he has the chops.
- He’s already a great host! James took over The Late Late Show after Craig Ferguson retired. So far he has received positive response from late-night viewers. This early bird has yet to stay up that late, but that’s what YouTube is for.
- I want to see Mr. Corden have a fabulous opening number. In the past, multi-time host Neil Patrick Harris has put on some major show stoppers to start off the ceremony. I hope the composers and writers give James the same chance as they have given Mr. NPH.
- This one’s a bit selfish, but I would personally like to see a duet between James Cordon and Lin-Manuel Miranda, star and writer of Hamilton. Readers should know by now that I’m a huge fan of Miranda and his brilliantly written musical (fellow Talk Nerdy With Us writers have to hear me gush about it almost daily). Just imagine the proper British Corden performing a rap battle with Miranda. I NEED THIS.
So what are you looking forward to at this year’s Tony Awards? What do you want to see from James Corden?
