Preview of The CW’s Significant Mother

The CW is known for its superhero, sci-fi and horror lineup with such shows as The Flash, Arrow, iZombie, The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural. But, with the success of its critically acclaimed and award nominated dramedy Jane the Virgin, the network is putting the laughs into Monday night with the summer premiere of its new comedy, Significant Mother.
Originally meant to air on the cwseed, Significant Mother explores the theme of what happens when your best friend dates your single mother. In real life, I doubt most people would find the humor in that scenario. If your best friend and your mother marry, do you go from calling him bro to dad?
Perhaps The CW is hoping to prepare audiences for their Monday comedy lineup in the Fall (when new comedy Crazy Ex Girlfriend joins Jane the Virgin). Regardless of whether it will be a ratings gem or flop, Significant Mother is slated for a nine episode run.
Significant Mother premieres August 3 at 8:00.
