For the holiday season, Lifetime is joining forces with The Jim Henson Company on a Thanksgiving-themed Lifetime Original Movie. Currently in production in Vancouver, Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow stars Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Mary Steenburgen (Elf, Orange is the New Black) Jay Harrington (Better Off Ted) and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges (Fast and Furious) as the onscreen narrator. The live-action family film is based on an original story and characters written by Henson and his longtime writing partner Jerry Juhl in 1968 and is executive produced by Lisa Henson.
The film centers around the small town of Turkey Hollow, and the Emmerson family, recently divorced father Ron (Harrington) and his kids Tim (Graham Verchere) and Annie(Genevieve Buechner). When the family heads to eccentric Aunt Cly’s (Steenburgen) farm for a quiet Thanksgiving, the kids search for the elusive Howling Hoodoo, a monster of local legend. When a neighbor frames Aunt Cly for turkey theft, the family bands together with some unusual new friends to save Thanksgiving.
“Turkey Hollow is an unproduced gem from our Company’s archives,” said Lisa Henson, the CEO of The Jim Henson Company and daughter of Jim Henson, in a press release. “I have fond memories from my childhood of my father planning and developing this production.”
Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow premieres November 21, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
