'Rookie Blue' Episode 4.05 "Poison Pill"
Last week you might remember that I said that the chances of a renewal wasn’t looking very good. Well I am so happy to report that I was wrong, wrong, and oh yeah, wrong because our favorite rookies are coming back for a 5th season. Oh yay! Good job ABC, you got this one right. Of course someone over at the TWOP Rookie Blue forums happened to mention that last week so the news didn’t really come as a surprise to me, but still this is one fan who is over the moon about the confirmation. Now I’m just wondering if we are going to see Diaz back next season.
One of the things I have always admired about Canadian shows is that often when a character leaves a show rarely is a big fuss made. Now I know that for those of us who live South of the Border (the Canadian border) the idea of not having a big send off for a favorite character is practically unheard of. So much show that fans will often cry “foul” if their favorite character and/or show doesn’t end exactly the way they think it should regardless of whether it stays true to the story the writers are telling. Except that is not how it is with shows like Rookie Blue, when a character leaves it sucks for their loved ones and it is even worse when that character leaves under tragic circumstances, but they go one because life goes on. It may not be big and romantic, but it is honest. If this should be Diaz last episode he couldn’t have gone out in a better way with a quiet dignity after having helped his fellow officers get a killer off the streets. Oliver was right to have noticed that the Diaz we first met 4 seasons ago was quite different from the man standing in front of him. I was never a big fan of his, but now that it’s possible that we may never see him again I can’t help but wonder what if we didn’t just lose someone with the possibility of greatness.
When it comes to bucket lists I’m sure getting doused with anthrax laced heroin isn’t a high priority. In fact I would imagine that it would never ever be on anyone’s bucket list and yet both McNally and Cruz find themselves covered in the stuff thanks to their friendly neighborhood art dealer/junkie. I guess that’s what McNally gets for wanting to spend more time with Cruz in the hopes of becoming friends with her. As a woman who has had boyfriends with exes I do not understand this need she has to be friends with Cruz. Leave them alone and move on or at least fake moving on, but don’t try to be the woman’s friend. Especially if it turns out that woman suffers from bipolar disorder. Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying that there is something wrong with Cruz because she is bipolar. What I am saying is that McNally brings enough of her own drama to the table that Cruz doesn’t need that added stress in her life. Hell she’s already had to shoot a woman and managed to get herself quarantined while being partnered with McNally I can’t imagine what other trouble McNally will get them into.
Speaking of trouble, Dov you stupid, stupid man you. Has no one ever told you that you don’t accuse the girl you like of having a mental disorder unless you are sure she does? Hell even if you are sure you still don’t accuse her of it unless of course you like sleeping by yourself than by all means go right a head. Oh, wait, nevermind you did and now you’re sleeping alone. Good job, Epstein. Your temperamental roommate on the other hand has taken her jealousy and stepped it up to full on cheating and with the guy that tried to eat Sarah Polley in the beginning of Dawn of the Dead no less. I have nothing against Nick or Chloë for that matter, but I’m going to continue shipping Dov and Gail until the series is no longer in production and probably well past that point.
Holy freaking moly people Nash and Swarek had more than a couple of lines this week. I don’t want to over-exaggerate this or anything but I am pretty sure we can mark that as a season 4 miracle. How is it possible that two kick-ass characters such as themselves could be regulated to secondary character status? It makes no freaking sense. Just because Swarek is no longer with McNally doesn’t mean his storyline well has dried up and what about Nash? Does she really need a man to be “A” story material? I don’t think so. I guess we should just take the Nash solved the damn thing, with a little help from Dov and the rest of team, scraps they’ve given us and be happy.

Frank seems lonely without Noelle or maybe I just miss her.
Nick, my man, if you don’t want to be with Gail any more there are better ways to do it than by disfiguring her with tomatoes.
I’m not sure what the name of the song playing in the opening scene is, but I can not stop singing it.
Who would have guessed that a guy in a hazmat wouldn’t be a soothing presence?
Second season 4 miracle occurred when I realized Chloë went the whole episode with out annoying me. Progress is being made.
