Batwoman returned from a one week break on Sunday night with Batwoman continuing her pursuit of the False Face Society and Jacob Kane’s struggles with losing Beth (aka Alice) becoming too much.

In case you missed it, here’s a recap of how things went down.

Jacob’s grief turns addictive

The main plot of the episode revolved around Jacob and his grief becoming truly addictive. He gets kidnapped and drugged with Snake Bite. This causes him to dream that he saved Beth from a life of crime by rescuing her from the Cartwright house all those years ago.

Later, he meets with Dr. Evelyn Rhyme — Enigma’s civilian identity — and she realizes Jacob has become addicted to the drug. Jacob admits he’s addicted to Dr. Rhyme and he cannot stop because it allows him to live in a world where he did save Beth.

Roman Sionis visits Jacob and provides him with a sample of Snake Bite, not knowing that he’s become addicted. Sionis asks Jacob to investigate the source, but we all knew this was unlikely to happen. Instead, he goes to visit Mary and asks her to help reopen his clinic but she declines his offer. This pushes Jacob to use the Snake Bite that Roman gave him earlier.
