“The Masked Singer” Recap: A Wildcard Twists Up The Game

The Masked Singer continued on Wednesday night with the rest of Group A back for another night of performing and guessing who’s behind the mask while a new wildcard twist was introduced to shake up the game.

In case you missed it, here’s a recap of the performances as well as the latest celebrity reveal.

Russian Dolls

The night kicked off with a performance from the Russian Dolls, who seemed to multiply this week. The trio sang Sean Mendes’ “Wonder” and did a pretty decent job at it. A majority of the clues this week focused on one of the dolls’ health crisis in the recent past.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: The band Hanson.

Raccoon

I don’t even know if what the Raccoon did is classified as singing; they essentially talked their way through their performance. You know what? Talking is too nice of a word. He SCREAMED his way through Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”, which led to guest judge Joel McHale hilariously telling the truth of how awful it was.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: movie actor Gary Busey

Robopine

I’ll be honest here. It is so frustrating to not know who this is. I’ve heard Robopine’s voice somewhere before, but I cannot place it. Last week, I guessed Jamie Foxx, but now I am stumped. His performance of John Legend’s “All of Me” was so smooth that it made judge Nicole Scherzinger cry.

His clue package included some references to a childhood in Costa Rica, but I feel like he may be lying to hide who he really is.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: I have no idea.

Seashell

This week, I went from ‘I don’t know who is behind the mask’ to being pretty confident about who the Seashell is. Her performance of Demi Lovato’s “Confident” was stellar and she described herself as a “total jock” in her clue package.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: singer JoJo.

Orca

And now it’s time for the first wildcard of the season! Orca took to the stage for the first time and performed Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It”. His clue package included weird-flavored pizzas and the time of 2:59.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: No clue yet!

The Unmasking

After everyone had performed, guest host Niecy Nash returned to deliver the results. She revealed Raccoon received the fewest votes and would be eliminated. The Raccoon was unmasked and revealed to be actor Danny Trejo.

I did not see that coming!
