“Superman and Lois” 1×03 Recap: Jordan finally makes his mark

Superman and Lois continued on Tuesday night with the Kent children finally making their mark at Smallville High School while a new villain made her debut in style.

After last week’s episode focused more on Captain Luthor and his shocking revelation about Superman having turned evil on his Earth, things focused more on the family this week as Jordan got his shot at football.

In case you missed it, here’s a recap of how things went down:

Jordan earns respect

It is safe to say Jordan and Jonathan have not been respected at Smallville High School since they arrived. Jordan kissed Sarah’s boyfriend, who is on the football team, making life hell for the twin brothers. This week saw Jordan go from their target to their equal as he tore things up on the football field. Clark is not happy, well, because of the whole superpowers thing and how dangerous it is.

“Everything you do is a mistake,” Jordan yells at Clark in response. “I just wish you would go back to not being around anymore.”

John sticks up for his brother, getting Clark to reconsider things.

The only issue is that Clark becomes the goofy and awkward assistant coach to keep an eye on his son. So that should lead to some hilarious moments later on down the line.

Sarah finally opens up

The Kents weren’t the only family dealing with drama this week. The Cushings had issues after Sarah quit the cheerleading team because she needed to change “everything” about herself. Lana confronts her daughter but Sarah tells her off, calling her a fake and saying their family is far from perfect.

“Why, because you think I’m going to kill myself? How many times do I have to tell you, I’m fine!,” Sarah told her mother.

Sarah refused to eat dinner with her family and the end of the episode brought a truly heartbreaking scene. Sarah explained that she felt “trapped” with no future so she wanted to end her life, while Lana admitted that she does everything she can to hide the imperfections of her life to those in Smallville.

“I’m the most full-of-crap lady in Smallville,” she said. “And most days, when I’m smiling, that’s not how I’m feeling inside.”

God, those words cut deep and the latter part of that statement is so relatable.

A new villain arrives in Smallville

After a baddie with powers attacked Lois for investigating Morgan Edge, he tries to skip town but is stopped by Leslie Larr, who uses her laser vision to vaporize him.

“It’s done. I’ll call a team,” she tells someone on the phone.

Who exactly is Leslie Larr? I guess we’ll find out in the weeks to come.

Episode Notes

  • Lois and her new editor Chrissy investigate claims that Morgan Edge was responsible for the disappearance of a woman’s son. That led to Lois’s car being set on fire with a Molotov cocktail. Not the best welcome to Smallville, eh, Lois?
  • Leslie Larr is played by Stacey Farber, who is best known for playing Ellie Nash on the hit Canadian show Degrassi. Who knew Ellie Nash had heat vision?! 😉
