‘The Masked Singer’ Recap: White Tiger Eliminated As Super Nine Round Begins

The Masked Singer continued on Wednesday night with the top nine singers remaining battling it out to impress judges Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, and Robin Thicke to advance to the top eight. At the end of the two-hour show, one celebrity would be unmasked.

Without further ado, let’s jump into this recap.

The shelled one returned with one very interesting clue, saying that he is not a trained dancer. His performance of Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love” showed his vocal range, proving he has definitely done this before. So he’s a singer but does not have trained dancing skills. I still feel I know who this is based on a YouTube search and me watching a certain teen drama when I was younger.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: Former Summerland star Jesse McCartney

The clues did absolutely nothing to help me guess her identity this week; she just pulled out a plastic kangaroo from her pouch – weird. Anyway, she sang Dixie Chicks’ “Not Ready to Make Nice” and it was really well done. Going off past clues, she said she had drama recently that put her in the spotlight and that has me siding with that long-running internet theory.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: Life of Kylie star Jordyn Woods

White Tiger

The giant tiger is everything I love about this show – wacky, silly, and fun. He’s just very, very, bad singing-wise. He sang Right Side Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy” with a strong Boston accent, giving away the worst kept secret in the show’s three-year history.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: former New England Patriot Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski

The furry feline was up next and her clues this week were a dead giveaway to her identity. She gave a shoutout to Robert Redford, who “helped me get my very first role.” She sang Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” beautifully and it reminded me of a voice from another show back in 2010.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: America’s Got Talent Season 10 runner-up Jackie Evancho

Everyone’s favorite fruit was up next and this week completely ensured my guess. His performance of Lynard Skynard’s “Sweet Home Alabama” was AWESOME. He dropped a big bombshell with his reveal that he is not a standup comedian which led me to do a YouTube search of a certain celeb singing this same song back in 2014.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: Poison frontman Bret Michaels

This guy is my dark horse to win the entire competition. He has the spunk and the energy to get the crowd going and as we saw in season 2, that matters. This week, he sang Kriss Kross’ “Jump” perfectly and crushed the “miggity, miggity, miggity, miggity Mac Daddy” part.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: Rapper and actor Bow Wow

Night Angel

My pick to be in the final two is this angel and she belted out another strong performance this week. Her clues this week included her saying “I’m not just a voice. I’m a mogul”. She sang Andra Day’s “Rise Up” and knocked it out of the park. There’s a certain current housewife that’s a mogul… hmm.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss

The penultimate performance of the night came from the Rhino. He said he’s been on the Billboard charts and has an album, so there goes my theory! This week he sang “What a Man Gotta Do” by the Jonas Brothers and I’m right back to being stumped again.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: I have no clue! Help!

The final performance of the night came from the spaceman in gold. He sang “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley and he has a nice tone to his voice. I know his voice from somewhere in the country charts. I’ll take a guess but I may change it next week.

Who is behind the mask? My guess: country star Hunter Hayes

The Unmasking

Host Nick Cannon revealed White Tiger, Banana and Rhino were in the bottom three of the audience vote. He then revealed White Tiger was (thankfully!) eliminated from the competition. He was unmasked and revealed to be Gronk!
