‘The Flash’ 6×14 Recap: Team Flash has double the trouble

The Flash continued on Tuesday night with two blasts from the past while Mirror-Iris struggled with covering her tracks to hide her real identity.

In case you missed it, here’s a recap of 6×14, titled “Death of the Speed Force”

An old friend delivers some home truths

As the episode title suggests, the center of this episode revolved around the Speed Force. Wally West returned home for a visit and he’s much more zen than usual. But that changes when he and Barry are cleaning up after a party and realizes Barry’s powers are out of whack. Wally tells Barry that the speed force is dying and later we come to find out that its all Barry’s fault. Man, the kid can’t catch a break!

Wally takes Barry into the speed force using some Jedi-mind tricky mumbo-jumbo and that’s when Barry realizes by using the Spector’s powers in “Crisis”, it basically began to slowly kill the Speed Force and in just weeks, his powers would be gone.

This is The Flash, so obviously Barry isn’t losing his powers for good. The solution to their problem? Barry tasks Caitlin and Cisco with creating their own Speed Force and got the idea from *spoiler alert!* Eobard Thawne!

Thawne is back!

As mentioned above, Thawne is back and I am THRILLED! So let me back up briefly and just mention how we got here. Nash went to Cisco to get his help with some “survivors” from another Earth, but Cisco was too busy to help him. By the time Cisco got to Nash, it was too late. Thawne attempted to kill Cisco, but since he’s in Nash’s body, his powers did not work.

Thawne gets put into the pipeline at S.T.A.R. Labs and that’s where Thawne tells Barry he’s going to kill him and his friends, the generic supervillain speech. I’m so excited to see Thawne back as Reverse-Flash because he’s by far the best villain in the Flash comic series. Plus, Tom Canavaugh plays the character so well. I can’t wait to see where this goes.

Mirror-Iris attacks!

The episode also dealt with Mirror-Iris, who struggled to keep her true identity a secret. Her first slip up came when she spilled some wine (always a no-no!) and then Kamilla took a photo of her and Wally talking but Mirror-Iris demanded she deletes it for “security” purposes. Well, that photo did not delete and it would result in Kamilla learning Mirror-Iris is not the real Iris. Mirror-Iris blasts her with the mirror gun as the episode ends.

I don’t think we have to say #RIPKamilla just yet; my theory is that she was blasted into the mirror world. I’m more curious to know what Mirror-Iris wants exactly. What’s her end goal?
