NBC to investigate ‘America’s Got Talent’ amid Gabrielle Union’s controversial exit

NBC is launching an investigation into one of its biggest shows. Following a meeting with former judge Gabrielle Union, the peacock network is launching an investigation into America’s Got Talent.

“The initial conversation was candid and productive,” said the network said in a statement. “While there will be a further investigation to get a deeper understanding of the facts, we are working with Gabrielle to come to a positive resolution.”

Union confirmed the meeting took place on Twitter, saying she and NBC executives had a “lengthy 5-hour meeting” and expressed her “hope for real change”.

Last month, it was announced that Union and fellow judge Julianne Hough would not be returning to the talent competition show for Season 15 next summer. Shortly after, a report from Variety stated the actress was allegedly fired after complaining to show producers about a racist joke made by comedian and guest judge Jay Leno. While these reports have not been confirmed, they are enough for the network to launch an investigation.
