‘How To Get Away With Murder’ 6×04 recap: Michaela finds her answer
Thursday’s episode of How To Get Away With Murder took a break from figuring out #WhoKilledAnnalise and instead focused on one of her students’ search for the truth.
The episode picks up with Michaela’s search for her dead-but-now-alive birth father. Michaela’s birth father, Solomon Vick, is doing a Q&A forum in New York about how he is creating a massive $500 million fund to invest in women entrepreneurs. She and Gabriel go there to find him and lie to the rest of their friends about where they actually are.
The next day, Michaela stands up and calls Solomon out, asking him if he holds himself accountable in his personal life as much as he does in his professional life. She even goes so far as to ask him if he’s ever slept with a client. She does all this using Laurel’s name, but the way Solomon looked at her afterwards suggested that he knew she was lying. I mean, obviously. Michaela said she was Laurel Castillo but she doesn’t have a hint of Latin/Hispanic blood. Did she really think she was going to get away with that without some weird looks?
This is confirmed later after Michaela and Gabriel get into a fight. She walks out and sneaks breaks into Solomon’s apartment. He finds her and tells her, “I know it’s you, Michaela.” So, not only is Solomon an arrogant prick but he knew Michaela was out there this whole time and never went looking for her.
Later that day, Michaela goes to the bar and agrees to talk to Solomon but on one condition: she gets to ask him anything she wants, to which he agrees.
Gabriel confronts Annalise
At some point, Gabriel returns back Philadelphia to confront Annalise. He goes to her home and plays one of the recordings of her sessions with Sam, talking about her relationship with Eve.
“I met someone else,” she says. “A man. He’s kind, caring, handsome — problem is, he’s my therapist.”
I’m not sure where Gabriel is going with this whole thing. His cheating dead dad got seduced by his patient, so he’s the real victim? Sorry, but Sam was an asshole to Annalise.
Episode Notes
- Michaela getting an entire episode dedicated to her was pretty boring. Unless she is somehow Annalise’s long lost daughter, I couldn’t care less about her daddy issues.
- We got more details of Nate’s conversation with the FBI. They offer for Nate to get justice for his father’s death if he helps them take down Annalise. After Bonnie gets Tegan’s divorce papers to Nate, he takes that to the FBI, who track down she owns stock in Barrington Holdings, a company that Laurel apparently owns. Bonnie realizes Nate is talking to the FBI, but Nate says isn’t like that. They’re interrupted when a knock at the door reveals a very beaten and bloody Frank. He looks very close to dying.
- Connor and Oliver have a threesome, so that fulfilled the show’s weekly sex quota.
- The flash-forward was very brief this week, with future Michaela freaking out while Connor is having a severe panic attack in the next room. So basically nothing significant of note.
