‘Black Lightning’ 3×03 recap: Jefferson’s freedom comes with a new look
Just like the theme song says “Black Lightning’s back” and in Monday night’s episode, he made his return with some new threads.
In case you missed it, here’s a brief recap of what went down in Monday’s show.
Jefferson’s new suit
Odell visits Jefferson and brings him a new watch, which doesn’t seem like much at first. But when Jefferson uses his powers, a new suit materializes around him. Odell tells him that this is why Jefferson had to stay in prison longer – because the technology he was building for the watch will ultimately make all metas’ lives better. Let’s be real – that’s a damn lie.
I have to admit – the new suit looks dope, much better than the one that Gamby made him. But I do wonder: since Odell is #ShadyAF, is there more to it than that?
Odell’s plan comes into focus
Speaking of Odell, his plan is starting to come into focus. We see him manipulating different people to get the outcome he wants. This week, he targeted Jennifer and he told her that Khalil’s mother was killed by the Markovians. But viewers know that’s not true since Odell brainwashed Khalil and ordered him to kill his own mother in last week’s episode.
He uses Jennifer’s emotions against her and convinces her to destroy a Markovian facility. Once she does, Odell gives Khalil the ok to kill a house full of Markovians.
Elsewhere, Odell is literally torturing Tobias Whale, who isn’t looking too hot these days. He wants Tobias’ intel on what is the briefcase but Tobias refuses to say anything. Odell shines UV light into the cell, causing the albino supervillain to burn. I have to admit – Tobias has held up strong up until this point, but how much longer can he take it?
Episode Notes
- I really didn’t care for Anissa’s storyline in this episode. It seems like the show is wanting to push her storyline of romance with Grace and I’m just not caring enough to pay attention.
What did you make of the episode? Let me know in the comments below.
