Kodi Lee wins ‘America’s Got Talent’ Season 14

It’s official! 22-year-old singer Kodi Lee was crowned the winner of Season 14 of America’s Got Talent in a tense finale on Wednesday night, taking home the $1 million prize and earning a headline show in Las Vegas.

During the finale, Kodi and X Factor UK star Leona Lewis sang a stunning duet of Lewis’ song “You Are The Reason”, which was one of the most memorable finale performances I’ve seen in a long time.

Towards the end of the finale, host Terry Crews revealed that Voices of Service, comedian Ryan Niemiller, dance group V. Unbeatable, Kodi, and choir Detroit Youth Choir all made the top five in the voting.

Terry then announced two shocking results: the Voices of Service finished fifth and V. Unbeatable took fourth place. Ryan finished in third place, meaning that Kodi and Detroit Youth Choir were in the top two. Terry then announced Kodi as the winner as fireworks and confetti rained down inside the Dolby Theatre.

“I feel so amazing,” Kodi said after his win. “It’s unbelievable.”

Kodi is blind and autistic, but music allows him to a different way communicate with the world. During his audition (which went viral and currently has over 100 million views) in the show’s premiere back in May, he performed a beautiful rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song for You” and captured America’s hearts. Judge Gabrielle Union hit her Golden Buzzer, sending Kodi straight into the live shows.

His story of overcoming his challenges to perform on the world’s biggest stage has truly changed the world and given hope to so many people.

America’s Got Talent returns to NBC in January with Season 2 of America’s Got Talent: The Champions.
