Christie Brinkley forced to quit ‘Dancing With The Stars’ due to severe injury

Christie Brinkley has been forced to quit Dancing With The Stars after suffering a serious injury in rehearsals, ABC has confirmed.

Brinkley appeared on Good Morning America on Monday and revealed that she broke her arm and will need to undergo surgery. Brinkley’s daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, will take her mom’s place on the show.

“While rehearsing for the premiere of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ Christie Brinkley suffered injuries which required surgery to her wrist and arm,” ABC said in a statement. “She is unable to continue her planned participation on the show. Keeping it all in the family, her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook, a Sports Illustrated model, has chosen to quickly step in with hours to learn the entire routine and will compete in her mother’s place for the remainder of the season. We wish Christie a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her in the audience, whenever possible, proudly supporting Sailor.”

Brinkley-Cook is a model for Sports Illustrated and has only had a couple of days to learn the routines before the show goes live tonight.

Dancing With The Stars premieres live tonight at 8/7c on ABC.
