After five seasons, Jimmy Olsen is departing National City.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Mehcad Brooks, who plays the reporter and Superman’s friend on the show, is leaving the show in the first half of Season 5.

“We love Mehcad and we’re sad to see him leave the show as a series regular, but we’re excited for both Mehcad and James Olsen’s future,” said showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller in a statement. “He’ll always be a part of our Supergirl family and we look forward to James returning to National City at some point to visit his sister and his super friends.”

The report also states that Brooks is leaving the show on his own terms to focus on other opportunities, including focusing on feature films and developing a cable series. The news comes after it was revealed Jeremy Jordan would return to the show in Season 5.
