‘America’s Got Talent’ recap: Which survived the third round of Judge Cuts?
Another round of Judge Cuts on America’s Got Talent has come and gone, meaning that it was now or never for the latest group of acts to impress the judges enough to earn a place in the live shows. Joining the judges panel this week was Ellie Kemper, who had the chance to send one act straight through to the live shows with the Golden Buzzer.
In case you missed it, here is a recap of all the acts as well as the results.
Greg Morton
The first act of the night was impressionist Greg Morton, who returned to the stage with brand new act. He took the audience and judges to the movies as he did voiced characters from famous movies such as E.T. and Jurassic Park. It had me laughing and smiling, and set the tone for a really good night of talent.
Carmen Carter
The singer took the stage and performed her own rendition of “Come Together” by The Beatles. Personally, I felt she was trying too hard and over sang the song. Overall, it wasn’t a strong performance in my opinion.
Gonzo
I cover this franchise in different countries, so I’ve seen Gonzo perform before when he was on Britain’s Got Talent. I found him annoying then and he’s still just as annoying on America’s Got Talent. There’s nothing talented about a guy slapping himself with a tambourine. As Ariana Grande says: thank u, next .
Marcin Patrzalek
Easily one of my favorite acts of the night. Marcin’s performance reminded me of the reason this show was created in the first place: to find people with pure, raw talent. Seeing him on stage with just a guitar showcasing his skills was a special and memorable moment.
Ansley Burns
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with this 12-year-old singer. She is cute and has talent, but she needs work. In her first audition, she struggled to sing the song with a terrible backing track, so judge Simon Cowell stopped her mid-song to sing it acapella. The same thing happened again on Tuesday and it just proved that she is not ready for this competition.
Light Balance Kids
The kid dance group lit up the stage – literally! They showcased their skills and showed off what they learned from their parents. It was enough to earn Ellie Kemper’s Golden Buzzer. Personally, I felt the act was decent enough to advance, but it was not worthy of the Golden Buzzer.
Nick and Lindsay
The opera-singing, danger act combined classical music and some pretty freaky stuff. It is a really unique act, but not my cup of tea. I had a feeling they would move on simply based on some of the acts that had gone through the last two weeks.
Melissa Arleth
A performing rat is not talent. Enough said.
Mackenzie
Easily one of the top acts of the night. He performed a beautiful rendition of “Faithfully” that showed his range and tone.
Results
The judges debated following all the performances and decided Greg Morton, Carmen Carter, Gonzo, Marcin Patrzalek, Nick and Lindsay, and Mackenzie would all advance to the live shows.
America’s Got Talent continues next Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC with the next round of Judge Cuts.
