Winter is here, but there is something else coming.
HBO officially announced that there will be a two-hour, post-series finale documentary on Game of Thrones, titled Game of Thrones: The Last Watch. The documentary will showcase the behind-the-scenes of Season 8, one last ride to bring this powerful and successful TV show into full circle.
According to Entertainment Weekly, HBO says that the documentary:
“delves deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland … Much more than a ‘making of’ documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world – and then have to say goodbye to it.”
The production, acting, cinematography and overall greatness of this show are truly unmatched in comparison to other network and cable TV shows. It takes the term “above and beyond” to a whole new level and it deserves all the praise and excitement it has been receiving since the beginning. I’m excited to dive deeper into all of this in Game of Thrones: The Last Watch.
Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is set to air May 26th, a week after the finale. And don’t forget to catch up with all 7 seasons on HBO GO before the premiere of Season 8!
Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres April 14th at 9pm on HBO.
