‘Celebrity Big Brother’ ends second season with 3.8M viewers

The second season of Celebrity Big Brother came to an end Wednesday night with a historic moment as Tamar Braxton became the first ever African American winner in Big Brother history.

However, not everyone tuned into watch, as the finale averaged just 3.8 million viewers. That number is down from the 5.2 million who watched the season one finale when Marissa Jaret Winokur defeated Ross Matthews to take the crown. Year on year, the season two finale was down 15 percent from season one.

Overall, the season averaged 4.4 million viewers and a 1.0 demo rating, which is slightly down from the season one average of 5 million viewers and a 1.2 demo rating.

The big question is whether or not CBS will renew the show for a third celebrity edition. While we’ll have to wait for the official word, I would be surprised if it was not brought back. The network knows this edition is just a month long and an alternative to other shows. I do, however, feel it may not be an annual thing moving forward if the ratings continue to go down.
